Glavbolgarstroy is part of a new large-scale project for the provision of liquefied natural gas
The company supports the implementation of a floating natural gas terminal near Zagreb, Croatia
Glavbolgarstroy signed a contract at the beginning of October this year with a consortium led by the Monter Strojarske Montaže company. It concerns the implementation of activities on the construction of the Zlobin-Bosiljevo key gas pipeline in Croatia.
The floating terminal for liquefied natural gas is located in the municipality of Omišal on the island of Krk. It is of geopolitical importance in the context of strengthening the European energy market and increasing the security of gas supplies for the countries of the European Union and especially for the countries of Central and South-Eastern Europe, which have focused their efforts on securing new and reliable sources and delivery routes.
The section is 58 km long and is financed by the Croatian national budget. It will enable the terminal in Krk to reach its technical capacity of 3.5 billion cubic meters of natural gas per year.
This is a project of strategic importance for the European Union and is included in the list of projects of common interest of the EU (PCI), for which grants in the amount of 101.4 million euros have been allocated. The construction of the gas pipeline is expected to be completed in 2025.
The Zlobin-Bosiljevo gas pipeline, on the other hand, is located 70 kilometers southwest of Zagreb and will be suitable for transporting hydrogen as well. Its construction is necessary for the further expansion of the Bosiljevo - Sisak - Kozarac pipeline, which aims to increase the gas transmission capacity to Hungary to 400,000 m3/h, as well as the expansion of the Lučko - Zabok section of the Croatia - Slovenia interconnector, which aims to increase the gas transmission capacity to Slovenia to 170,000 m3/h.
Thus, the gas pipeline will be able to meet not only the energy needs of Croatia even in the most complicated circumstances of gas supply and consumption, but also guarantee additional supplies of the blue fuel to Hungary and Slovenia.
