Reach far, stay close.
Technologies allow for global connectivity and Tuk-Tam becomes a network uniting Bulgarians around the world, says Hristo Boyadzhiev
The Bulgarian community around the world is now connected through the tuk-tam.bg platform. It allows its users to communicate with each other and to keep a strong connection with Bulgaria no matter where on the globe they are currently located. We present to you one of the engines of this organization with a big heart:
Hristo Boyadzhiev is
a man with a cause
who can build bridges between people. He is a Cofounder of Tuk-Tam (Here-There in Bulgarian), a grassroots initiative for dialogue with the Bulgarian communities abroad. In the beginning of 2008, Hristo was months away from graduating with a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from American University in Washington, DC. He was outgoing, charismatic and in the top of his class – an ideal recruit for any organization on the lookout for young talent. However, Hristo had already made a decision to return to Bulgaria. He was motivated not only by the saying
your power is where your home is
but also by the conviction that here he will have more balance and a better quality of life. Moreover, today you can work globally regardless of where you choose to be based currently. To Hristo, Bulgaria also signifies all Bulgarians around the world who can be united for the name of a better future for our country. He believes that we should not talk about ‘returning’ since the constant going back and forth depends on one's engagements. "I have chosen to build a life in Bulgaria but that doesn't chain me forever," he says.
The number of well-educated Bulgarians who live abroad is significant and it would be a missed opportunity if people with such valuable experience stay outside of
the tuk-tam.bg network
Anyone who wants to contribute can join. Different activities can be initiated, common projects and events can be organized, and qualified candidates can be hired. It uses automation and algorithms integrated in the platform.
In the beginning, Tuk-Tam was an organization focused on offline events and its aim was to connect people. Hristo Boyadzhiev and the likes of him believe that the future belongs to the meaningful interaction among people based on trust. Then, those who are "there" will feel closer to "here." United, they
can focus their energy
in one direction.
The tuk-tam.bg platform provides opportunities in four main areas: live, work, learn and community. The online users and members will find up-to-date useful information about life and job opportunities in Bulgaria, job ads and profiles of leading companies. They will access events, news, interviews, inspiring stories, advice from other members of the community, information about scholarships, courses and trainings.
Tuk-Tam does not rely on EU or state
funding
The NGO works on its projects with the support of businesses. Its forthcoming large-scale professional event, Tuk-Tam Hive, will take place on September 17, 2020. They are prepared to run the event with all the necessary safety measures and, if needed, to do it online. With the energy of enthusiasts like Hristo Boyadzhiev, Tuk-Tam becomes a strong magnet for capable, motivated and proactive people who believe in Bulgaria.
