Trace and GP Group want to build part of the Bucharest subway
The underground railway in the Romanian capital is to be expanded with 14 new stations worth more than 2.2 billion euros
Three consortia comprising 56 local and international companies submitted technical and financial bids for the extension of the Bucharest subway, Romania Insider reports. Among them are two of the largest Bulgarian construction companies - GP Group and Trace Group Hold – which are once again united in their ambition to win infrastructure contracts.
The M4 metro line in Bucharest is to be extended by 14 stations - a stretch between Gara de Nord and Gara Progresul, which is about 11 km long. The call was launched in April and is worth more than 2.2 billion euros including VAT, co-financed with European funds.
The procedure is divided into two distinct positions. The first, contested by GP Group and Trace, includes a stretch of just over 6km between Gara de Nord and Heroes of the Revolution 2. Its value is over 1.2 billion euros including VAT. The second portion is for a section with a length of just over 4.5 km between Heroes of the Revolution 2 and Progressul station. Its estimated value is over 1 billion euros including VAT.
Bulgarian construction companies participate in a consortium led by Dogus Insaat Ve Ticaret AS. The latter is a Turkish company with more than 250 infrastructure projects in the world. The consortium has submitted a bid for the design and construction of the first section of the underground railway.
For the same position, an offer was also submitted by Gülermak Spółka Z Ograniczoną Odpowiedzialnością, according to information from the Romanian publication Economica.
For the second lot, there is only one offer – it comes from a consortium with the participation of Constructii Erbasu, Concelex and Bog'art.
The offers will be analyzed in the coming period and the winners will be selected by the end of the year. Construction work should start in 2025 and will be completed in no more than 5 years.
The construction of the 14 new metro stations is expected to significantly reduce road traffic and provide a boost to the economic development of the southern part of Bucharest.
