IAG's armored car plant in Burgas starts working this fall

The new factory of International Armored Group (IAG), a leading company in the global defense industry, will begin operating on October 1 in Burgas, the company reports. The investment exceeds 10 million euros. About 50 new Bulgarian specialists will begin working at the production line, and in the course of the work, it is expected that their number will grow to at least 300.

The plant construction started in March last year. The company's plans envisage the creation of two more plants in Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad.

At a time when high-quality defense equipment is becoming "a first necessity" for the security of countries and people, in Bulgaria we will make products aligned with the highest NATO standards for the whole world. I am very proud of this investment and the opportunities it opens not only for IAG as a company but also for the country as an exporter," said IAG owner Dr. Anton Stefov.

The production base is located on an area of ​​150 thousand square meters in the industrial area of Burgas. The plant itself was built by Glavbolgarstroy-Plovdiv.

IAG's newest production base will manufacture various types of armored vehicles for international markets, as well as drones for rescue, reconnaissance and emergency teams in collaboration with IAG's Bulgarian partners.

Military evacuation cranes and light patrol cars will also be made in serial production, the way it is in other IAG plants around the world. The development of wheeled and tracked robots is in the works. Armored platforms carrying light artillery systems are in the process of engineering calculations.

The Rila 8x8 infantry fighting vehicle stands out in the product portfolio. IAG demonstrated the fourth generation of these armored cars at the Central Artillery Range of the Ministry of Defense, where it successfully passed NATO tests, such as STANAG 4569 with explosion protection level 5a.
