Lukoil Neftochim denies rumors of a sale to a Qatari-British consortium
The Russian company said that it’s still analyzing different options for its business in Bulgaria
Lukoil Litasco, the owner of the oil refinery in Burgas, denied information reported by the Financial Times that the site would be sold to a Qatari-British consortium. The company sent an official position to the media outlets, emphasizing that
the assumptions made in these publications are inaccurate and misleading, and in particular that no talks are taking place with the aforementioned Qatari-British consortium, and there have been no communications with the Russian Federation authorities on the subject."
According to the authoritative British financial publication, the Russian state-owned energy group Lukoil plans to sell its refinery in Bulgaria to the said consortium, based on a letter from the group to the office of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Lukoil also says that it is committed to making the sale process transparent and will continue to inform the Bulgarian authorities, trade unions and other interested parties.
Different options for the company's business in Bulgaria are analyzed under the coordination of independent consultants and a number of authoritative market participants. However, no decision has been made regarding a specific deal or potential counterparty," the company said in a statement.
